System for transporting and unloading stations using a tracked platform and hydraulic lifts

Difficult terrain, no paved access road or possibility of constructing one, no possibility of trucks entering unpaved roads, the need to rent a crane for unloading, or even too little space to set it up are the most common challenges in investments related to the delivery and installation of stations on photovoltaic farms.

The solution to these problems is TrafoGator – a system designed by ZPUE for unloading and installing stations using a tracked platform and hydraulic lifts.

We provide our own transport for the station and the tracked platform on a specially designed low-loader trailer with ramps enabling direct descent of the platform.

The platform and station can travel on dirt roads without the need for additional hardening. Steep inclines and declines of up to 17°, as well as a long range on a single tank of fuel – up to 20 km – are additional advantages of the set.

In addition, the system enables safe transport and installation of stations under power lines (after prior agreement with the network operator) and in places where it is not possible to set up a crane, e.g., in dense urban infrastructure or production halls.

Technical parameters

Basic technical parameters of the system
Dimensions of the transported station (standard/maximum)* 4,76 m x 2,66 m x 2,5 m** / max. 5,4 m x 3 m x 2,8 m**
Load capacity of the tracked platform (max. weight of the complete station) 22 t
Minimum station width 2,1 m (structural considerations)
Maximum operating speed / range on a single tank of fuel up to 2,4 km/h / up to 20 km
Terrain inclination (ascents and descents / lateral inclinations) max. 17° / 7° depending on the terrain

* For stations larger than 4.7x2.6x2.8, the transformer is transported together with the station; for larger stations, the transformer is transported separately.
** Height of the main body - 2.35 m (standard), max. 2.65 m (optional).

Station design

Specially designed handles enable the MRw-bG station to be lifted together with all its equipment (installed switchgear, transformer, connections) and roof. Hydraulic lifts attached to these corners replace a crane. Their structural load capacity is as high as 32 tons.
The station's design allows it to be installed directly on a prepared foundation without the need to transport and assemble a foundation basin. Heavy-duty mats are laid for the duration of travel on the prepared foundation or to protect asphalt roads (when driving off the trailer).

The station is equipped with a sealed oil basin and internal cable connections linking the transformer with MV and LV switchgear. To facilitate the introduction of cables from outside, modular cable ducts can be optionally installed under the station. The switchgear itself has seals in the floors to prevent rodents from entering the station.

Advantages of the system

  • Transportation of stations on unpaved dirt roads.
  • Station foundation without the use of a crane - positioning using hydraulic jacks.
  • Installation of the station directly on a previously prepared foundation without the need for transport and installation of the foundation and cable ducts.
  • The station is transported as a complete unit: switchgear, transformer, internal connections, roof – minimum number of operations required for installation.
  • Remote control of the tracked platform and lifts.
  • The station can be installed in production halls (e.g., industrial plants) without the need to dismantle roofs and supporting structures.
  • The possibility of installing stations under power lines without having to shut them down - safety and time savings.
